KATE KUAIMOKU 


   I’m a visual artist working somewhere between infrastructure, myth, and lived experience. My projects move through performance, installation, and site-based gestures, often circling themes of impact, survival, and transformation. I’m interested in thresholds and the figures that emerge there. Landscapes, archetypes, and engineered systems tend to slip into the work. Oscillating between Northern California and Baja Sur.

The Expanded Body Steel Armor, Leather, Stainless Steel Glove, Leather boots. 2.6 x 2.1 x .35 meters



JACQ Aluminum, Fiberglass, Zinc Eyebolt, Rivets, Vinyl, Blower ,Controller. 5 x 5 x 1.2 meters.


The installation is a live simulacra set in St. James Church. The event is undeniable, the artist advances and attempts to stay in sync with the animatronic metal-formed, JACQ. JACQ, A physical manifestation and elaboration of the writings of Lacan, interfaces with the artist between the real and surreal. An aggressive meditation is explored in how to navigate problems, encounters, and challenges of life. The installation becomes more elaborate and unbridled as the work progresses. A parallel to life, its hardships, and the manifestation of power and progression.
