KATE KUAIMOKU 


   I’m a visual artist working somewhere between infrastructure, myth, and lived experience. My projects move through performance, installation, and site-based gestures, often circling themes of impact, survival, and transformation. I’m interested in thresholds and the figures that emerge there. Landscapes, archetypes, and engineered systems tend to slip into the work. Oscillating between Northern California and Baja Sur.

For Make Sunsets, I designed a 24-page zine celebrating the company’s first 1,000 customers.



Inspired by the imagery of 1970s science fiction illustrators such as Vincent Di Fate, the piece used bold color, graphic compositions, and a retro-futurist visual language to tell the story of an early climate-tech community taking shape. I combined illustration with ChatGPT as part of the creative process to develop a stylized visual theme that carried consistently throughout the composition. Customer quotes, data, and company milestones were translated into a playful narrative format, making Make Sunsets’ technical and mission-driven work feel accessible, imaginative, and engaging.
